Subject:Need help identifying
Posted By: Heather Fri, May 10, 2019 IP: 104.136.133.9

I need assistant identifying where and when this item was made. I've tried to translate the Kanji markings on the bottom but all I've come up with is round, kiln, respectfully.

You're right, the mark reads Maru 丸 Gama 窯 Kinsei 謹製 = Maru (round) kiln quality product.
Kinsei can mean:
- humbly made,
- carefully made,
- respectfully made,
- quality product.
See Wiktionary.

Your item is contemporary Seto ware, 1970's - 1980's I think. Maru Gama is still operational in Seto.
Regards,
Martin.
