Subject:Japanese Screens
Posted By: Julie R. Tue, May 14, 2019 IP: 96.232.131.183

Greetings,

I’m at a crossroad with two Japanese panels, whether or not to sell. Seeking more information on the pieces. The first is suppose to be 1660 AD, scene of “Battle of Genji and Heike Samurai” at Ichitani, Inland-sea. Piece is unsigned but supposedly done by a Tosa School artist. Is this a piece worth selling? If so, private or auction house? The piece was purchased in 69, I believe from an antique dealer. Pieces are inherited so I do have some very limited documentation of them. One photo shows damage. Does that hinder the value? Should a piece like this be restored? The second screen will be in a separate post.

Thank you for all you do!!!
