Subject:About a large porcelain plate with the Chenghua mark but probably made in Japan
Posted By: Luciano Fri, Aug 23, 2019 IP: 193.204.90.105

Hello,
I have purchased the large porcelain plate (cm46) you can see in the attached pictures: I think that the mark at the bottom would date at the Ming Emperor Chenghua (1465-1487) period; but the painted pattern, in my opinion, is more japanese than chinese...
Please, what do you think about it?
Thanks a lot and kind regards,
Luciano

Indeed Japanese Arita porcelain.
The spur marks are typical Japanese as is the left edge decoration (asymmmetric).
Late Meiji period I guess.
Regards,
Martin.
