Subject:chinese square pot with unusual mark
Posted By: richard Sat, Aug 31, 2019 IP: 86.185.3.255

Hi all, could anyone please tell me what this is and more importantly what is what looks like a mark, to the left bottom corner means, if anything?
The glaze is very thick, over a very dark blue. The item is square and measures 12 x 6 x 13.5 cm.
It looks quite old, seems to have kiln marks, but other than the mark? to the bottom left, no other marks can be found. Any tips or pointers appreciated. Kind Regards Richard

It looks like a ceramic incense (mosquito killer) burner.
The marking is typical Japanese. An encircled 正 (Shō)character, reads Marushō + 製 = Marushō-sei - Marushō made

With regards,
I.Nagy
