Subject:Japanese Inscription on Imari-Style Bowl
Posted By: Cliff N. Sat, Nov 02, 2019 IP: 74.98.231.232

Hi, I was hoping for some help on translating the characters on the base of an Imari-style Japanese bowl; I may or may not be correct about three of the characters, and have not found the fourth. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Best,
Cliff

The mark reads: Taimin 太明 Nen Sei 年製 (= Made in the great Ming period).
A Japanese copy from the 19th century of a Chinese mark.
Regards,
Martin.

Thanks so much! Turns out I was way off. I saw examples of the Ming inscription on other pieces but they looked a bit different.
