Subject:Celadon Cat
Posted By: Melinda Wed, Nov 13, 2019 IP: 24.153.181.162 Hello, I bought this cat at an estate sale and hope someone can tell me what the marks on the bottom mean. I also hope someone can tell me why there is a hole in one ear and on the back--is it an incense burner, and if so, why two holes. Also, any indication of age? |

Posted By: mikeoz Thu, Nov 14, 2019 This is a water dropper, a vessel to deliver small amounts of water to an ink stone used by calligraphers and artists. Once filled with water, the flow is controlled by placing a finger over the hole on the cat's back, then releasing drops of water by lifting and replacing the finger. |
