Subject:Help identifying seal stone
Posted By: Christina Mon, Dec 30, 2019 IP: 47.205.154.191

I'm hoping to get some assistance identifying whether or not this seal is Jade and whether or not it is old.
I was given the information that the inscription is a poem by a well known poet . I have been unable to identify the calligrapher by the mark on it.
Thank you!

Dear Christina,
I hope an expert will chime in and provide some information on the stone.
As of the poem on the side is from the Tang Dynasty poet Yong Yuzhi's poem titled "Reed flowers" (雍裕之 蘆花)
夾岸復連沙 枝々揺浪花
月明渾以雪 氣處認漁家
雍裕之詩
道光三年
.............
River banks and sandy shores are covered with flowers which are swaying like the waves
The moon is bright like snow, nowhere to recognize
the fisherman (hiding in)
Poem of Yong Yuzhi
3rd Year of Daoguang (1824)

The last line, probably with the name of the carver is impossible to decipher without a proper rubbing from it.

The last red character is 石 "Stone"

With regards,
I.Nagy

Judging purely by your pictures and quality therein I submit that your seal is probably made from Soapstone. It has a dull like finish associated with said stone not seen on genuine nephrite jade or jadeite jade.
The low quality carving of your seal suggests to me that your carving is both modern and made primarily for the tourist trade.
