Subject:Chinese strip of paper identification
Posted By: Tom Aspden Wed, Jan 15, 2020 IP: 31.205.13.20

Hi, I recently received this piece of paper, but I don't have a clue about what it is and what the text says.
Any help or information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

The strip of paper is a 18 c. Japanese clan note (type of money) or in Japanese "hansatsu"
These notes were usable only in particular domains and were exchanged for government bills at the market rate of the day.

Inscriptions,
Pic.1,
和州 福地 - Washu Fukuchi - Japan Country (Happy Land)
Red seal between,
畿内 - Kinai - Provinces around the capital (Kyōto) - Circulation area -
Pic,2,
銀壹匁 - Gin Ichi-monme - 1 Silver Monme (Mace)
- Face Value -
福地銀札引替所 - Fukuchi(Happy land = Japan) Currency Exchange Office

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thanks very much I. Nagy for the information. So is this a genuine clan note then? If so, I never expected it to be 18th century.

Very appreciative,
Regards, Tom
