Subject:Japanese scroll - Tani Buncho?
Posted By: John Lord Sat, Sep 19, 2020 IP: 110.140.141.192

This scroll was purchased in Japan in the 1960s / 1970s and is attributed to Tani Buncho. The image measures 125 x 50cm. Can anyone confirm this attribution?
I would be grateful for any comments or information.

Yours,
John Lord

Colophon,
甲申初夏寫于畫學斎中
Painted at the Beginning of Summer of the Year of Wood-Monkey (1824)
at the Gagakusai (Painting Studio)
- One of Buncho's pseudonyms was Gagakusai -
Signature and seal,
文晁 - Bunchō

It is a reproduction.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear John,
I dont see any obvious reason why not, a complex composition.... However your pics are not good enough to see anything of the painting technique. the forum limits pictures to a low resolution only, you may send me a mail directly or post a link for better photos. I really would like to see this in detail.
