Subject:A bit of a challenge... Inscriptions on old Japanese box
Posted By: John T. Mon, Jan 04, 2021 IP: 2a01:cb05:8886:f400:

Hi,

Me again.

I've been struggling to decipher some of the writing on this old tomobako.

There was a very nice jubako inside of it. Quite old too by the looks of it.

Unfortunately, much of the writing has become faded (with the exception of the inscriptions under the lid). I've done my best to edit the photos so as to make it easier to read but I'm afraid that some of it might just be too faded.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Lacquered tableware

Sorry, but the rest is only partly legible.

Thanks!

I'm impressed you managed as much as you did. Unfortunately the rest might be lost now given how faded they are.
