Subject:Help identifying large scroll
Posted By: Russell Sun, Jan 17, 2021 IP: 104.32.169.184

I picked up this scroll in a wooden box from a local (Los Angeles) yard sale. Written on the wooden box is a shipping address in the Bronx,New York. It was sent by a military member, with RPO in San Francisco. There are 2 red Airmail stamps on the sides, and 2 Asian characters on one end. Google lens translated them to English, and the read “ E Bamboo” (pictured below).
As far as the scroll, I believe it’s a chinese watercolor of a rooster with bamboo shoots. It seems the types of artwork are very common, however, the woman I got it from was married to a man who served in Vietnam, and it’s my understanding he obtained it while he was there, and sent it stateside. I’d like to know the time period, as well as identifying the artist, and possible valuation. Thanks for any help you can provide, I looks forward to hearing back.

The Japanese artist is Kurimoto Kôyô (栗本光陽), signed and sealed 'Kôyô'. He painted landscapes and animals in Japanese style (Nihonga), probably 2nd half 20th century but I have no further info.

Guy.
