I have inherited a teapot my mother picked up during her travels through China a few years ago. I know nothing about its history nor origins. Even a translation of the symbols underneath the teapot would be very helpful. Any information appreciated, thank you.

I think this is called a wine pot, with the outer chamber to hold hot water to heat the wine.

The mark on the base reads DaQing QianLong nian zhi - made in the reign of the Great Qing QianLong emperor.

Except it wasn't.
