Subject:Help Identifying Asian Tea Set From WWII
Posted By: Rebecca Sprinkles Mon, Mar 29, 2021 IP: 64.188.193.48

My grandfather brought my grandmother a tea set back from Japan after WWII. Was hoping someone could tell me something about it. Who made it? I took a picture of the mark and enlarged it. Thank you.

Marking reads,
名古屋製陶會社製 - Nagoya Seitō Kaisha-sei
Made by Nagoya Ceramics Company
Founded in 1919 under the name of Narumi Ceramics, later changed its name to Nagoya Ceramics Factory and Nagoya Ceramics Company. In 1946 it began making western tableware.

With regards,

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate your help with identifying the marking from my tea set.
I searched to see if I could find another tea set that looked like mine with no luck. I have attached pictures hoping you might be able to tell me more about its origin.
This tea set was in my grandmother's house before I was alive and throughout my childhood. My grandfather brought it back from Japan during WWII. I now have the tea set in my home.
In addition to simply being curious about its history, I wanted to find out if it is possible to get replacement pieces to complete the set I have. I have 6 saucers but I only have 5 cups
and one of those is broken. Sadly, I do not know what happened to the broken and missing pieces.
I would appreciate any information or guidance you can provide regarding my search.

Kind Regards,
R. Sprinkles
