Subject:Mark on bottle
Posted By: Martin Michels Sun, May 16, 2021 IP: 2001:1c03:58c0:3800:

Recently I saw this bottle and tried to decipher the signature. Unfortunately I could not find what is written, too cursive for me.
So again I like the help of some more experienced Japanese language Forum members and ask what name is written (Bill H. / I.Nagy ??).
Thanks in advance,
Martin.

According to the rules of calligraphy this signature reads,
朽斎 - Kyūsai

With regards,
I.Nagy

Would the signature be that of --
Tetsugendo Kyusai (1879-1938)
Thanks

I don't think the signature on your bottle is by Tetsugendo Kyusai, because his Kyusai name is written as 汲哉, in Sino-Japanese (ON-reading) Kyu and Sai.
See also picture below.
Tetsugendo Kyusai was a netsuke carver using wood, ivory, etc.
So your Kyusai stays a mystery.
Regards,
Martin.
