Could someone please let me know what this small 5" ginger jar says on the side? Any help would be most appreciated.

太獅少保 - Taishi Shaobao - Big Lion (Grand Preceptor) and Junior Guardian
In Chinese 大獅 "Taishi= Big Lion" and 太師 "Taishi = Grand Preceptor are homophones.
In front of the government offices there were two stone lions. The one on the left represented the 太師 "Taishi - Grand Preceptor" which was the highest rank in the court. One on the right represented the 少保 "Shaobao - Junior Guardian"
which was the prince's young guard.
Two lions, one big and one small are quite common decorations on Chinese porcelain objects.

With regards,
I.Nagy
