Actually, it is Japanese,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction that this is Japanese. This scroll appears to have some age, do you think this is from the 1879 era? and could the collective work be from the great masters of that era?

Why not believe the date's real- so far we have not seen anything from the painting itself.
