Subject:Help with Japanese fireman's axe
Posted By: Suzume Sat, Jun 12, 2021 IP: 2a01:cb05:8886:f400:

Hi,

I was hoping for some help with this old fireman's axe.

I don't think it was ever used.

I believe it was awarded in May 1974.

It comes with a stand that reads "Fire" hence my assumption that it's a fireman's axe.

Any help would be much welcome.

Thank you,

贈 土底分団 - Award to Tsuchizoko Squad
昭和四十九年三月 - In March of the 49th Year of Shōwa Era (1974)

Tsuchizoko 土底 (Soil bottom) is not a place name or a personal name, it is fancy name.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Hi,

Many thanks once again.

I've been able to do some research. I believe that they were (and still are) operational around Iruma.

Thank you for your time and effort,

Regards,
