Subject:Bronze Hu - Han?

Hello All,
I've been gifted a pair of lamps which have for bases, a lovely shaped bronze Hu with two-character markings. Family history is that these were bought in India (by distant Army family ancestors) from emigrant well-off Chinese fleeing the instability of the 1920's. (The Family bought a lot of very nice quality ceramics etc this way at the time.) They were made into lamps in the thirties probably, remaining as so to today. I thought they were ceramic at first but the weight says otherwise. Could they be v.old or reproductions? The Characters seem to spell "Big/Large Mouth" but that's purely internet translation! They are 270mm high and have turned loose mahogany caps and bases. Any help appreciated, thanks.
