Subject:Pair of asian hand Carved Figures

Any ideas as to the age or origin or what they are made of

THey are each about 5.5 inches High.One of them weighs about 130 gms and other about 110 gms.

Why so close? it looks like an abstract painting.
One picture however shows that we are looking at Tagua nuts.

Hi Steve,
Said carvings are chinese. Made from soapstone and from the later 20th century.
