Subject:Vase - Republic or earlier ?
Posted By: Peter Wed, Jan 05, 2022 IP: 77.119.203.144

Hello. I'm considering purchasing a vase which I find quite attractive.
Unfortunately, It has at some time been converted into a lamp. However, looking at the photos I've seen, it appears that the cable may be routed through the neck of the vase, thereby avoiding the need to drill a hole in the base. I'm also a bit perturbed as to how the wooden stand is 'secured' to the vase base - if this is indeed the case - as it seems to be in one picture.
I assume that the vase was originally made with a fitted lid.

Anyway, I would be grateful for any expert opinion(s) of the vase and it's approximate age, if possible.

Many thanks for any help or guidance.

Republic period vases are very popular atm. Hence the copies and high prices etc.
The design is a fairly well-known one that numerous artists have portrayed. Notably He Xuren for one.
Your images are not very clear. But I believe it is not republic period but a much later example.
The stand and top look newish.
