Subject:Mark under clay teapot
Posted By: Rody Sun, Jan 09, 2022 IP: 85.115.61.180

Hello,

I bought a pretty little clay teapot where different fruits are represented.
I think it is quite recent but I do not know its origin. Japanese or Chinese?
There is a mark under the base, so anyone knows what the mark stands for or means.
I thank you in advance

Mark reads Yi Xing 宜興 - the name of the place where it was made.

It is Chinese zisha (boccaro ware),
Base mark reads,
宜興 - Yixing
A town in Jiangsu Province, famous for its red clay teapots.
I can't decipher the potter's marking under the lid.

With regards,
I.Nagy
