Subject:Identification of artist: Silk Scroll print
Posted By: Greg Iverach Fri, Jan 21, 2022 IP: 58.105.76.96

Hello My Australian Nana lived on Meijima Island during the 1940's. When past she left me this Cherry blossom scroll. I've just had it treated to preserve the paper and silk.
Does anyone know the artist?

Dear Greg,
The picture depicts a flowering camelia shrub.

Signature and seal read;
青山 - Seizan (Green hill) - Art-name

Seizan is a very common Japanese art-name. According to the largest Japanese art-name register it was used at least by five painters from the late 19th to mid-20th century - and not speaking about less-known or unknown artists. In absence of reference works and other information to faciliate indentification, it is impossisible to identfy the artist only by art-name.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so much I.Nagy.
Where would I start in terms of gaining those references to contextualise the works of each artist?
