Good morning,
in this painting (of which I don't know the author) a samurai is represented (with a large beard and a long sword) who seems to lie in wait, while he hasn't noticed that behind him there is a beast (a gorilla? ). Can anyone tell me which tale or story inspired this representation? Does anyone know the author of the painting? Many thanks in advance for any suggestion.

I found this image on the net (Higuchi Jiro Kanemitsu Fighting Giant Monkey) which could be related to the story of the painting. Does anyone know anything about it?
