Posted By: Dave H Thu, Mar 16, 2023 IP: 185.153.179.147

Can anyone nail the time frame and possible location where this was made? My guess is around 1900 - 1920 era. Thanks to all .....

These are Thai guardian lions called 'Singha', same name as one of Thailand's leading brands of beer. They often are seen flanking steps at the entrances to palaces, temples and some commercial buildings in carvings of marble and bronze like yours. They also are reproduced in this classic style by Thai bronzesmiths, who are quite accomplished in such arts.

See the liveauctioneers.com URL for specifications and additional photos of a pair sold last month that were described as early 20th century as well.

Best regards,

Bill H.
