Subject:Bone carved deity? Fertility? Buddha?
Posted By: Ryan Tue, Jun 08, 2021 IP: 86.31.153.220

Hello

Can anyone provide me with their opinion on this piece? Age? Origin?

It's light - definitely bone or ivory. Looking at it I am thinking maybe a carved animal tooth?

Your pictures are not clear enough and low quality.
However, it's not ivory as there are now shregger lines. It's not bone either that has evidence of calcium deposits.
It could be tagua nut. I see alot of similar carving made from these.

Mark thank you for taking the time to reply.

I don't think it's a tagua nut - it really does seem like bone or some animal part. Though I am no expert and could be completely wrong and you could be completely right. :)

I appreciate the photos were not the best - I used my iPhone and due to the upload file size restriction it was the best I could do. I will try uploading them on the PC and resizing to the max 500mb.

If you could maybe cast your eye on the new uploads when complete; I would be very grateful.

Best wishes. Ryan

Why do you show the same lousy pictures several times, if in the same time you could get some good pictures which an expert can translate. I think that you most likely have a nice modern, collection of plastic figures.

Thanks Ernest - have a pleasant day. :)

I will attempt to upload some better quality pictures, of which, you are more than welcome to cast an eye over should you wish.

Best wishes, Ryan.
