Subject:Opinions On What This carving Is
Posted By: Dave H Sun, Jan 16, 2022 IP: 104.200.132.221

Got this with a few other items on a online estate sale. It came from a collection from a gentleman that was in Asia in the 1970's.
It is very colorful and appears to be well done as far as details. It is about 12 inches tall. I have not been able to find what this may represent or what region it may have come from. All ideas, opinions on what this could be are welcome..Thanks to all...

I'd start looking in Java by the clothes. Possibly a musician or dancer.

Thanks Mike and you are right mentioning a musician.
Bill H made a post with the same question: "Opinions On What This carving Is" on Jan. 17th and he nailed it with his reply of:
"Your carving is of a Burmese musician, possibly ethnic Shan from the headdress. I would guess it to be early 20th century, since the colors appear to be oil-based and brighter than on older carvings of this type."

Thanks to Bill this has been solved ....
