I am needing the Chinese Calligraphy on base Translated and anyones knowledgeable opinion on its Date of Manufacture and other Information. Measures 5.5 inches high and is 4 inches wide consisting of pink. red. green and turquoise Flowers with a Cobalt Blue Background Field. Believe the Cloisonne Soldered Wires are Solid Silver and the Bars,Base, Hook and interior Platform are Silver Washed Brass.. The Shape is a Six Sided Diamond Pattern. Thank You for your Help! It sure does not look like a cricket fighting cage, I would think this to be a cage for a small song bird.

That would be terribly cruel for a small bird - even a humming bird. I do think it is a cricket cage.

The mark reads DaBao 大寶 Big Treasure.

Definitely to big for a Humming Bird! Thank You very much for Translating the Calligraphy for me! Was hoping for a Date or Artist but that will do. Gary K

Thanks I. Nagi! Mikeoz gave me the same Translation and I guess its just a Descriptive Term for the Cage - Big Treasure. Thanks for noting it to be around the 20 Century. Definitely wanted a Date on the piece. I will be putting up in a week a Chinese / Japanese Porcelain Plate with lots of Calligraphy on the Base. Real interested to know what that says! Will be getting back to you on the Mustard Seed Garden Woodblocks soon! Yours Truly, Gary K
