Subject:Porcelain Vase - Pottery Mark
Posted By: Mike Sun, Jun 04, 2017 IP: 2602:0304:b0d8:ada0:

Good day! I am hoping someone can help identify the marks on two porcelain vases I recently came upon. They are 20cm (8 inches) in height and I am hoping to get an idea of the age. The subject matter appears to be women playing a game of Go. Thank you for any information you can provide.

The mark is a printed QianLong mark, so probably last quarter 20th C.

The ladies are not playing Go (in Chinese called WeiQi 圍碁), but Chinese Chess (also known as Elephant Chess XiangQi 象棋). If you notice the board is divided into two playing areas, divided by a river. The WeiQi board is continuous, made up of 19 lines by 19 lines.
