Subject:Identifying chop mark on brass bowl
Posted By: Lee Bachman Sun, Jul 30, 2017 IP: 2001:558:6040:3b:40a I have a brass footed bowl that has a chop mark on bottom. I don't have any information about this. The only thing I know is that a chop mark is the family name. If anyone could enlighten me about any information about this bowl I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you for your time. |

Posted By: mikeoz Mon, Jul 31, 2017 The picture is so small that it is impossible to say exactly what it says. However, I can see that there are six characters in the seal. The vast majority of incense burners like this carry a Da Ming Xuan De Nian Zhi (大明宣德年製)seal mark. This is an homage to the era and do not mean that the item is from the Ming dynasty period. |
