Here is the translation of the upper half of the
scroll,
和光院下炬 Wakouin Ako
Wakou Temple Funeral Ritual Recital
(Ako has the verbatim meaning of putting torch on stake, i.e.
a sentence recited by the monk (Zen) while putting fire on the stake)
低頭禮佛在此國
擧頭已入弥陀界
鷹峰老衲海譽
Let us make a low bow in front of Buddha
and rise our heads again when we enter the pure
land of Amitabha.
Kaiyo, the Old Monk of the High Peaks

Underneath, there are two Zen style poems calligraphed by two monks.

With regards,
I.Nagy
