Hi all, I purchased this lovely framed work of art that I believe may be a screen print. I know nothing about it other than I saw it, think its beautiful and had to buy it. Previous owner had it framed nicely, I think. Anyone have any ideas what dynasty? chinese? japanese? I'm am clueless.

This scene is recurrent in Thai art and almost certainly depicts a tale dating from the first Siamese-Burmese War (1547–49), when the King of Ayutthaya reputedly was accompanied by his queen and their daughter into battle from the backs of elephants against the Taungoo ruler. As the disputed story goes, the Siam King's elephant got spooked in the midst of close combat, and began running away, prompting his Queen and the princess to take their elephant into a defensive position against the Taungoo force.
