Subject:Identification of Artist Signatures
Posted By: Christopher Nettle Tue, Nov 14, 2017 IP: 2602:30a:2e93:4e20:7

These 4 oriental paintings have been in my family for the last 7 decades or more, but no one has known anything about them. All have been in their mounted frames since being acquired by my family. Only 2 have an artist mark and stamp, and I would like to find out who those artists are and the time period they were from. The other 2 paintings appear much older, but do not have any identifiable artist marks. One was repaired at some point in the past because a "patch" is evident if you look at the center.

Any help in tracking down who these artists are would be awesome!

the signed pictures are Japanese, the other two Chinese and likely 100(+) years old. The Japanese pictures strike me as more recent than that. One signature is 光径, the other I am stuck on at the moment: 大-something. The artists are probably too minor to find much information about, but I. Nagy seems to specialize in Japanese art and may also give you a better reading than mine.

Right bottom signature reads;
光經 Koukei
I have found only one painter in Japanese name dictionaries with this art-name. His surname is
Kamiya. 神谷光經 Kamiya Koukei.
Born in 1883 in Toyama, year of death unknown, and he
was a disciple of Kikuchi Keigetsu.
The seal seems to be a combination of relief and intaglio carving.

The other signature with high possibility reads,
大成  Daisei in Japanese reading
Dacheng in Chinese reading
For the being I could not find painter that fits the search conditions either in Japanese or in Chinese sources.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so much Nagy, I definitely appreciate it. Any idea on the other 2 without signatures? Is there a way to tell at a glance, or am I gonna have to take them to get them looked at physically?
