Subject:Chinese or Japanese Terracotta Plates
Posted By: Tom Thu, Nov 23, 2017 IP: 174.88.22.103

Hi
I posted this yesterday but for some reason both my photo's didn't upload properly so I'm posting again. I have these 2 chargers that I was hoping someone could tell me more about. Does anyone know who made these based on the mark? Thank you!

Hi, the mark appears to be American importer AA Vantine. He imported Japanese and Chinese.

Not that it makes much sense, but the flags have (on the right) the risen sun symbol of Japan, and (on the left) an enigmatic message referring to a "clear water trench“。

So, Japanese, almost certainly. Post WWII, probably.

That's it for me.

I believe it is a Turkish flag as AA Vantine did business there.

Dear Tom

And I'm sure it's obvious but the image is of Tripitaka and Sun Wukong travelling on the Journey To The West.

Kind regards
J.Lim
