Subject:Information about calligraphy and box
Posted By: Andrea Mon, Mar 12, 2018 IP: 95.239.125.158

Hello, I thank in advance who can give me information about this calligraph: meaning, name of the author, date and meaning of the writing on the box.

Cordial greetings,
Andrea

The writing on the outside of the box is easy. It was a treasured item in the collection of He CunJia.

My feeling is that this was a calligraphy done by a Buddhist priest of some note. The calligraphy is very strong, but hard to read.

Guessing at some of the characters I get 四海界(something)無事, but I can't find any quotation involving these characters, so I could be barking up the wrong tree completely.

Good morning Mikeoz, thank you for your answer. A note attached to the scroll says that the author's name is:道誉教岸 and adds: 大 蓮 寺 十八 世. I also enclose the image of another calligraphy that should be from the same author (same seal). The note attached to this one says: Are these Chinese or Japanese works? Thanks again for the essential help and best regards, Andrea
