Subject:Help identifying Japanese kakejiku artists
Posted By: Anne Margaret Mon, May 21, 2018 IP: 125.30.91.218

Hello dear experts - I have recently fallen in love with the art of kakejiku, and have been purchasing them, but often without knowing anything of the artist. Could you let me know if you recognise any of the attached signatures and seals. The bijin one is very old, but I love her!

just fyi, kakejiku is simply the Japanese word for a hanging scroll; the same artists that you like may also paint in other formats such as handscrolls or album leaves.

The artist of your first, unpictured, scroll seems to be using the art name 觀菊

The second is using the name 小圃

I don't know much about Japanese art though; perhaps others can locate information about these artists

Dear rat
Thank you for taking a look at this message, and for offering your help. I will try to see if I can find any further information using the kanji of the names you have provided. I am still hoping some art expert out there might be able to help also.
Kind regards
Anne Margaret
