Hi everyone,

Can anyone translate this signature, and comment if this is a Shibuichi alloy?

Thank you!

I was hoping someone (Gman, maybe) would respond to your query. I have a similar interest. From my reading, Shibuichi is most often a shade of gray. Shakudo is more of a bronze color like your vase. From here, my guess is that your vase is bronze with precious metal adornments. The only way to know is to have someone test it with a x-ray diffraction metal tester. See link below.

My interest is the flower pot/censer below. I suspect the body may be shibuichi and the dragons may be shakudo. Like you, to really know, I'll have to get it tested.

Cheers,
Stan
