Hi all,

Would be great if someone could translate these characters.

Kind regards

The inscription purports that your(?) bronze image was "Made on the nineteenth day of the second month of the second year of the Jingping Reign" (景平二年二月十九日造本像 - Jing ping er nian er ri shi jiu yue zao ben xiang). Jinping was the reign title of the ruler of the House of Liu, which governed the divided Song Dynasty from 423-424 CE

I've downloaded the URL and an image from an October 2016 Chinese-language internet forum discussion of a Buddha image with inscription identical to yours, which participants decided was a fake, including on opinions that the Chinese characters didn't reflect the claimed period. Similar items had been auctioned on eBay in the period prior to the discussion. I wouldn't consider it fair for me or anyone else to dismiss your bronze as fake without seeing views of it. Would only add that their fake looks really nice and old on the surface to my less than well-trained eye for Song bronzes.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Dear Bill,

If be honest when I received your response with translation I already had translation - in a mean time I was able to find 2 similar bronzes in Chinese forums (one of them is same which you found).

I do understand that there is a lot of fakes in Chinese art industry.

You are well known and respected person here at this forum regarding your knowlegde.

I forwarded few pictures of my bronze to your email.

Thank you for translation!

Regards
Paul
