Subject:Identify marked jar

This Chinese jar is approx. 5 1/4" tall x 5" wide with lid. There is a mark in red on the bottom.

Looking for more information as to what it is (tea caddy, tobacco jar, ginger jar?) and what the marks mean. Also would this accurately be described as famille rose or rose medallion?
