Subject:Cast Iron Incense Burner
Posted By: David Mon, Jun 17, 2019 IP: 85.149.43.6 Here's another item from my collection which I'd like to learn more about. A large (24cm. diameter) iron incense burner. I think it's Chinese, but I'm not sure about that. And, was it originally for use in the home, or is it a temple piece (because of it's size)? Do the markings tell anything about that? Thanks in advance for your information. |

Posted By: mikeoz Mon, Jun 17, 2019 I suggest this is a Japanese cooking dish. The dimpled underside is similar to the finish on some cast iron kettles, and possibly was designed to provide a greater surface area to attract more heat. |
