Subject: Rare Han Purple Pigment
Posted By: Felix Francisco Fernandes Tue, Aug 06, 2019 IP: 80.2.107.220 Ancient Hand made Chinese mini jewelry box with old brass ornaments.Purple color was only resurfaced in 1990's .This Han Purple silk fabric also called Chinese Purple color was made in very medieval method as per the texture seen microscopically.The Han purple dye/pigment seems was not in use until Han dynasty.hope someone can help clarify this. Thank You Very Much

Posted By: rat Wed, Aug 07, 2019 Sorry, but this is not antique, it looks quite new. It certainly shares no characteristics of anything associated with the Han dynasty. Han purple was not known to have been applied to fabrics/textiles in any event, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_purple_and_Han_blue
