Subject:Carved Bamboo Brush Holder - Translation kai shu/Seals
Posted By: Elke Fri, Sep 20, 2019 IP: 92.193.20.89

Hello Everybody,

may anybody have a look and translate the inscription on this finely carved bamboo brush holder, please. I have no idea if it is original and of genuine age, but at least it seems really to be craftmans work and is finely carved bamboo.

Any ideas? What are the seals saying and is there any time /date of production given?

While searching for hints about this bitong, I found a rather simalar piece, which was sold at Christie`s in 2011.

So if mine should be original I would be lucky.

Any serious information is welcomed.

Thank you,
sincerly Elke

The text is the Heart Sutra, but I can't make out the original writer's name or read the "seals". This is reproduced from a written version, probably laser cut or machined recently.

Hello - I may be mistaken but that calligraphy looks to me as if it was carved with a laser, i.e. modern.
