Subject:Chinese vase mark translation
Posted By: Selby Cook Tue, Oct 01, 2019 IP: 173.239.199.47 I am unfamiliar with the fourth red underglaze character in a mark on a pair of yuhuchunping vases. I believe the first three characters are Great, Ming, Period but the fourth eludes me. Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks. |

Posted By: Selby Cook Thu, Oct 03, 2019 Thanks, Mike, your expertise is always appreciated. The vases have a few rust spots and compression dimples. Would you care to hazard a guess as to date of manufacture? I've seen similar color schemes on both Ming and Qing porcelain. The yellow in particular does not have the French's mustard color of the Republic or later periods and has some age crackle. Thanks again. |
