Subject:Netsuke signature
Posted By: Gwynn Goodner Mon, Oct 21, 2019 IP: 24.20.129.168 A charity I work with is having a silent auction and they asked me to try and track down some info on this netsuke. I've tried a signature comparison, but haven't come up with anything I would consider acurate. Perhaps the first character is Gen? It is the closest I've found. The donor said it was Meiji period, but the color and style make me think something much newer, Showa perhaps? Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

Posted By: Gwynn Goodner Fri, Oct 25, 2019 It definitely isn't tagua nut, ivory for sure. It could be Japanese, or Chinese mid-20th from the look to me. Definitely seems like a made for import item. |
