Subject:Japanese writing on print ??
Posted By: Sherry B Sun, Oct 27, 2019 IP: 69.124.110.67

Can anyone translate the Japanese writing on b right and b left? Apparently W.S Yan printed but does it state who the artist is/was? Please help me determine what each side read. Much thanks.

All I have is the French in the last picture: The Unborn Child.

Cheers,
Stan

Your print is Chinese.
It is the 6th drawing in the series of 12 drawings used in Zen Buddhism to describe the stages of practitioner's progress toward enlightenment.
Inscription on left side,
無碍牧牛圖之六 - Picture of Carefree Cowherd -
No.6.

Right side,
x雲山 - xYun Shan (Standard Chinese)) x Wan Saan (Cantonese)
Unfortunately the first -Yan- character is to cursive to read.
The artist name could be Yan Wan Saan in Cantonese

The French inscription,
L'enfant Sans Souci - A Carefree Child

With regards,
I.Nagy
