Subject:HELP with recently acquired antique Asian art
Posted By: Ray Zimpher Mon, Jan 06, 2020 IP: 184.60.156.36

I have recently acquired this piece of Asian art, I need some help finding out just what this is and what it might be worth. It is approx 4' long and maybe 3' high, it also has a very heavy wood stand that this slides into sort of making it a room separator. The only thing I have been told about this is that the date (1911) is written on the back as when it was made.

Thanks,

The front image shows the Hanshan Temple in Suzhou.(蘇州 寒山寺)
On the back we can see the re-engraved version of the familiar inscription on a stone monument at the above temple. The famous poem titled "A Night Mooring by Maple Bridge"(楓橋夜泊) from the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji(張継) is engraved on it.
The engraved calligraphy originally was written by Yu Yue (愈越)late Qing Dynasty Confucian scholar and philologist.

With regards,
I.Nagy
