Posted By: Bill H Fri, Apr 03, 2020 Looks like mulberry bark paper. Here's a link to pictures of plain sheets from a commercial source. Thailand and Taiwan have factories making it, in addition to Mainland China. In Taiwan, a factory I visited was making it by hand for use in name cards, almost all of which stock was sold to Japan. |

Posted By: Bill H Sat, Apr 04, 2020 Afraid I can't be of help on age. My impression is that mulberry bark paper is pretty tough stuff, but the only example I have is a hand-painted (in gouache) Thai horoscope bought at an exhibition at a major hotel and shopping complex in Bangkok almost 30 years ago. The artist had antiqued it around the edges with tea, but the colors and paper elsewhere remain fresh-looking, as they should in a frame. |
