Subject:Need Help Identifying Signature on Bronze Vase
Posted By: Joey O. Mon, May 25, 2020 IP: 110.54.251.106

Hello. Would anybody know how to read the signature found under my bronze vase? I’m thinking this is Chinese. Any idea of the period? Thanks.

I read the marking,
眞樹造 - Masaki-zō  - Made by Masaki

With regards,

Oh, thank you. So this is Japanese then? I thought it was Chinese. Could this, by chance, be a work of Hara Masaki?

(Hara) Masaki's name is written;
(原)正樹  - Masa's character is different.

I was thinking about the other possible variations of the first character written in a rather sloppy running style, and have found the right way of reading. That is,
直樹 - Naoki

Tominaga Naoki 富永直樹 1913-2006
Sculptor of the Shōwa period. You will find him on the net.
