I think this is a Japanese screen. Could someone tell me the artist? Thank you.

雅城 (生) - Masaki (sei)

Most probably Nasu Masaki 那須雅城 (Year of birth and death unknown)
Japanese painter who was active in Taiwan before WW2, Studied under Hashimoto Gahō。Exhibited several times at Taiwan Art Exhibition.
He has painted lot of lofty mountains.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so much!

It took a few days of looking on Google to find any examples of his work. Nothing on the American side of things, and only a few references and photos when I finally searched Taiwan sites.

It appears he is considered a founder of the Taiwanese mountainous landscape style of the Japanese colonial period, along with Ishikawa Kinichiro, who has come into the private market at auction.

Any thoughts on why there are no works of his in the private sector or at auction?

The example I posted a photo of is from a private collection and quite a spectacular piece for both its size and artistry.
