Posted By: Bill H Tue, Sep 22, 2020 your bronze shows the crowned Buddha Shakyamuni sitting on a lotus throne in the 'Earth touching' mudra or posture at the moment he cast off all influences of the evil goddess Mara. I've downloaded a link to further information and a photo of a plaque in the UK Victoria & Albert Museum, which noncommercial use is permitted under their rules. The museum website has further information that will be helpful for your purposes. |

Posted By: Bill H Wed, Sep 23, 2020 Rosario, I received your email regarding "advise in red color". If you mean the red color on the Buddha, it may be traces of a red lacquer-type liquid that was used to stick gold leaf to the surface of the Buddha in ancient times, but was not put on the rest of the plaque. Or if you meant the "URL Title :Buddha Sakyamuni plaque V&A" at the bottom left of my previous posting, it is the forum link to further online information about your Buddha image from the museum website. |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Sep 24, 2020 I have some hands-on experience in lacquer and wood Buddha images from my time in Southeast Asia, but have no serious experience with bronze images. I'd go with what museums and major auction houses have to say. Auctioneers such as Christie's and Sotheby's may be able to help with an auction potential appraisal. |
