Subject:Japanese Woodblock?
Posted By: John W Thu, Mar 04, 2021 IP: 47.200.127.114

Good Evening Everyone! It has been a while since I’ve been on here so I hope everyone is doing well! I have just acquired this piece of art recently. Can anyone please identify who the artist is, along with the seal and maybe the title of the print? From the pictures can you tell if this an authentic woodblock or just a reprint or a copy of one?Thank you for any assistance! Stay safe and healthy!

John

The signature might be Utamaro. If it is Utamaro, then it is highly likely that it is a repro.

You are going to need much better pictures if we are going to help you.

Cheers,
Stan

Stan,

Thank you for taking a look at this. Here are two more photos. When you have the chance, can you take a look and maybe interpret the red seal. After doing some more research with the info you gave me, I think it may be Utamaro as well. I also concur with you that it is more than likely a reprint or reproduction. Thanks for your help. Stay safe and healthy!

John
